Waymond Hampton

waymond hampton

Senior Designer

Waymond (yes Waymond) Hampton and his wife, Leigh, moved to Tacoma in 2006 from Kansas City, MO. Having always been an artist and designer at heart, he saw this move as an opportunity to make the switch from a career in the remodeling industry to pursue a career in design.

After hearing of its reputation from people in the Tacoma arts community, he soon began taking classes at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle. As a result of his schooling, as well as being mentored by Lance Kagey and Jay Hember, Waymond was able to land his first design job at the Institute for Functional Medicine in Gig Harbor, where he was the in-house web and print designer. After a stint there, as well as working as a freelance web designer, he met Adam Welch through a mutual friend and sparks flew...um...design sparks that is.

Waymond is passionate about good design and keeping up with the latest in the ever-changing world of the web. He is the driving force behind Hemisphere's adoption and use of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design. In addition to his love for good design, Waymond is a huge fan of his wife and two boys, New Community Church, music, Americanos, good beer and the amazing city of Tacoma.

INTERESTING FACTOID: While in elementary school, Waymond was chased down the street by a deranged man on a riding lawn mower.
